General Questions About Hiring a Mover

  • Why Should I Hire a Professional Moving Company?

Professional movers save you time, protect your valuables, and reduce stress. With over 40 years of experience, our trained crews know how to move heavy, delicate, and valuable items safely and efficiently—so you don’t have to risk doing it yourself.

  • How Accurate Will My Estimate Be?

We pride ourselves on providing honest and accurate estimates. The more detail you give us upfront, the more precise your quote will be. With decades of experience in both local and long-distance moves, we know how to tailor estimates to your specific needs.

  • Is Moving Labor My Only Expense?

No. Your estimate may also include:

    • Packing supplies (boxes, tape, padding)

    • Optional packing services

    • Storage (if needed)

    • Moving insurance (valuation coverage)

Tipping, Insurance, and Licensing

  • Should I Tip My Movers?

Tipping isn’t required, but it’s a great way to say thank you for a job well done. There’s no set amount—just base it on your satisfaction with the team.

  • Do I Need Moving Insurance?

Even though we take every precaution, accidents can happen. We offer affordable moving insurance, and because of our low claim rate, we can provide excellent coverage at a fair price.

  • Is Bos Enterprises, Inc., Licensed?

Yes! You can verify our credentials at dmvnow.com and check our reputation with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). We are fully licensed and insured for both residential and commercial moves.

Before and During the Move

  • How Far in Advance Should I Schedule My Move?

Book as early as possible to ensure your preferred date. We do our best to accommodate last-minute moves, but advanced scheduling guarantees better availability.

  • What Should I Do Before the Movers Arrive?

Focus on packing—not moving. Leave heavy lifting to us, although we also offer packing services upon request. Just have your boxes sealed, labeled, and ready when we arrive.

  • What if I Have Items That Won’t Fit in My New Place?

We offer secure storage solutions for your overflow items. Whether you're in a temporary space or saving things for family, we’ve got room.

  • How Do I Make Sure Boxes Go in the Right Room?

Use simple labels (e.g., MBR for Master Bedroom), and mark three sides plus the top of every box. We’ll work with you to get each box in the right room.

Special Items and Moving Logistics

  • Do I Need to Empty My Filing Cabinets or Dressers?

Filing Cabinets: Empty the top two drawers of 4-drawer units. Wooden and lateral file cabinets should be fully emptied.

Dressers: You can leave soft clothing in drawers unless the dresser is especially large or heavy.

  • How Do I Prepare My Appliances?

Empty and clean all appliances before your move. You’ll need to arrange for a licensed professional to disconnect gas lines, plumbing, or electrical hookups.

  • Will You Move My Plants or Pets?

Plants: Can be moved locally (at your own risk), but we don’t transport them long-distance.

Pets: Unfortunately, we cannot transport animals in our trucks due to safety and liability concerns.

  • Are There Items You Can’t Move?

Yes. For safety reasons, we do not transport:

    • Firearms or ammunition

    • Propane tanks

    • Aerosols or flammables

    • Paint or hazardous materials

  • Will You Arrange Furniture in Our New Home?

Absolutely! We’ll help place furniture and boxes in your desired rooms—and we’re happy to rearrange pieces until you're satisfied.

  • What About High-Value or Sentimental Items?

For small valuables like jewelry, we recommend moving them yourself. For large, fragile items like antiques, pianos, or fine art, just let us know in advance so we can use extra protection.

See our Specialty Moving page for more details.

  • Can I Ride With the Movers?

Due to insurance restrictions, we cannot allow passengers in the moving truck. Please arrange your own transportation to your new home.

  • What Happens if the Weather Is Bad?

We move in rain, snow, or sleet and come prepared with covers and materials to protect your belongings. Please make sure driveways and walkways are clear and safe.

  • Do I Need to Provide Lunch?

You’re not required to provide food. Our movers bring their own lunch. But water or sports drinks are always appreciated—especially on hot days!
